Ehud Geller, Ph.D. - Founder & Managing Partner, Medica Venture Partners
Dr. Ehud Geller has been active in the health care/biopharma and life science industries for over 30 years. The former president and CEO of Interpharm Laboratories, Ltd., he presided over the growth of this company from the seed stage to $18 million in revenues. Prior to that, Dr. Geller, was the president of the Pharmaceutical Division of Teva and Executive VP of the Teva Group, Israel´s largest pharmaceutical company. At Teva he led the merger of the pharmaceutical business involved in the acquisition of Ikapharm Ltd., and the strategy of Teva´s entry into the U.S. market. Earlier, Dr. Geller conducted pharmaceutical research at Wyeth Laboratories in the U.S.
Dr. Geller has a B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering, an MBA from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. degree in pharma/chemical engineering from Drexel Institute. He serves as founder and director of biotech and device health care companies. |
Lihu Avitov - Executive Vice President, Ofer Hi-Tech
Lihu Avitov joined the Ofer HT team in 1998, serving six years at Naiot (The Ofer Hi-Tech incubator). During his period at Naiot, he served as general manager for a medical device company specializing in orthopedics, as Naiot’s business development manager, and as its CEO for three and a half years.
As CEO of Naiot, he led various investments in innovative healthcare technologies and played an active role in the day-to-day management. Currently, Lihu serves on the boards of Nanopass, AngioSlide, ActiViews, CorAssist & PainReform.
Lihu received a bachelor’s degree in economics and management and a master’s degree in industrial engineering and management from the Technion–Israel Institute of Technology. |
Pennina Safer, Ph.D. - Partner, Medica Venture Partners
Dr. Pennina Safer comes to Medica after two years at Concord Ventures where she was part of the Healthcare investment team, and two years with an Israeli biotech start-up, CBD Technologies. Pennina brings significant experience from the US biotech industry, including 14 years at Genetics Institute, a Boston - area based biotechnology company which was acquired by American Home Products for $1B. While at GI, she held a range of positions including Director, Research Technology Acquisition.
Dr. Safer received her PhD in Human Genetics from Yale University, and did a post-doctoral fellowship at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology. |
Ilan Neugarten - Partner, Viola Partners Group and Head of healthcare investments of VPartners
Ilan Neugarten joined the Viola Partners Group in 2000 as a partner of DOR Ventures, a VC fund focusing on imaging technologies. During his period at DOR Ventures he led various investments including medical imaging ventures. Since 2006 he leads the healthcare investments of VPartners, and currently serves on the boards of AngioSlide, Neurosonix and PainReform. Prior to joining the Viola Partners Group he worked for Scitex ( NASDAQ:SCIX ) in various management positions in Europe, Japan, and Israel.
